What's in a Name?

A name can say many things about a person or organization. The same is true of a church. A church's name can say a lot about what the core beliefs are of any particular congregation. Our name, Compass Point Church, is no different.

In the early days of our ministry we utilized the acronym COMPASS to help us define who we are. COMPASS stands for "Church On a Mission to be Purposeful about Adoring the Savior, Seeking His will, and Serving Him and others. We still retain much of this as our ministry philosophy, however, we have matured in our thinking since those early days.

A compass is an instrument that can be used in any given situation. No matter the circumstance a person finds himself or herself they can look at a compass and find true north. We desire to be a church who understands the current political, social, economic, and cultural landscape. In this context, we desire to do only one thing: point people to Jesus Christ, who is true north.

Church
We are a church. We understand that church has a bad reputation these days. However, 'church' is a good word and we should not be afraid to use it. The church is a group of people who have been invited to a reconciled relationship to God. In other words, the church is a group of people what have been forgiven by God. To be forgiven means that God has picked up our sin (baggage that we all carry)and carried it away and will never bring it up again. At Compass Point you will meet Jesus who will help you live a life that is pleasing to God.
