POINTING TO THE WAY

Our Pastor

Pastor Brian is just a regular guy who enjoys his family, reading, lifting weights, and theology. He hates to wear ties (so don't come expecting him in a tie). He loves to open the Scriptures and teach from them and gets thrilled when people want to practice the Jesus way of life.

He grew up in a small town (Howard City, MI). He went to Baptist Bible College to earn his bacehlor degree in Pastoral Ministry and Bible. A week after graduation he married the love of his life (Rachel). He went to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and earned his Master of Divinity (but in no way has mastered the divine) degree. While at seminary Rachel and Brian enjoyed the birth of 2 of their 3 children (Abby and Elijah). Upon graduation, Brian and his family moved back to Michigan. Brian continues to pursue a Master of Theology degree at Grand Rapids Theological Seminary.

Brian became Compass Point's pastor January1, 2009. Soon after he came to Compass Point the Mattson family grew with the birth of Jonathan.

Brian would welcome the opportunity to sit down with you at some coffee shop (even though he doesn't drink coffee) and chat about your dreams and aspirations. He welcomes the opportunity to help you discover who you are in Christ and help you to become more like Christ.
